Personal Transformations
Monday, December 5th, 2011Why Get Involved
Monday, December 5th, 2011Your silence allows others to make decisions for you! In a representative democracy, citizens confer their voice to elected officials. If constituents do not tell their elected officials how to act then politicians will act “as if” and make decisions for the very people they are to be working for (the citizenry body). United we stand, divided we fall! Solidarity occurs when one person reaches out to another. Do something! Say something! Make your voice heard!
Know Your Rights
Monday, December 5th, 2011Complacency assumes that the outcome will be favorable despite conscious action on the individual agent’s part. Operating from this paradigm disenfranchises the citizenry body and empowers the active and involved to maintain positions of privilege. Over 2000 years ago, Socrates proclaimed that “The Unexamined Life is not Worth Living.” He was put to death for encouraging the citizens of his time to be educated and involved. Ask yourself why would the powers that be not want the masses to be educated and involved? It would seem that an informed and active citizenry would only stand to enhance National stability. Through the empowerment of one’s self and one’s community equity can be attained. Active participation and exercising one’s rights can also lead to a democratic distribution and achievement of Life, Liberty and The Pursuit of Happiness (The American Dream)!
